The mag strip drives my Neato crazy. We have a large plush area rug that the Neato makes a mess of when it vacuums it… leaves grooves in the carpet from the wheels. Simple solution… right? Just surround it with two roles of the magnetic tape.

The XV-11 seems to know there is an area beyond the tape that it needs to get to. It bumps the mag tape, and proceeds to go around the taped off rug. Then is goes around it again, and again, and again. After a while it seems to get more and more persistent in it’s attempts to get across the mag tape barrier, until it finally succeeds.

Of course once inside the taped area, it can’t get out.

The magnetic tape is not a solution for keeping the vac off area rugs.

No, it is not a bad product but unless absolutely neccessary, do not need it.

It is a magnetic strip that if you do not paste it, will end up getting pushed by Neato. And since it has to be pasted, you only can put in areas that is not visible (like under the cot). I did religiously cut and paste in
my home but the easier way is to allow it to vacuum the heavy traffic area, and then open one or two rooms selectively as it vacuums it. During next run, follow the same heavy traffic area + the other rooms. This way you can totally avoid second set of strips. So the heavy traffic areas get 2 or 3 vacuums a week while the rooms get vacumed once a week.

The strip that comes with Neato is enough to secure the powercords.

I tried scheduling but it never finishes because something got stuck on the brush , unable to navigate etc. So I turn Neato On only while I am there.

this is the extra tape I ordered when I ordered the Neato robiotic vacuum. Didn’t know that the machine comes with the tape. It works well to keep the machine away from cords.
